Greetings from snowy Riga,
This time we have so much to share, but we do not want to write loooong boring letter. Here are (most of) our news in key sentences.
WINGS FOR WHEELS
We are expanding. One full time staff joined W4W Riga team already and two more people feels calling to join us, but they are not from Riga. It means we are starting W4W branches in Liepaja and in Cesis. At the moment all three of them (and all W4W team) are getting trained. We call it Introduction to Leadership Training Program (ILTP). It is exciting to see what God has in mind next.
Janis Jegers, W4W full-time team member, is in DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Denmark. It is amazing to see how God is changing him spiritually and physically. It has been huge challenge for us to raise the school fee, but at the moment all the lecture part is paid, but he still needs 1644€ for the outreach. Do you want to be part of supporting him? God spoke to us 16th of November, 2001 to start DTS for people with mobile disabilities. Janis is the first one with mobile disability to complete the school and we hope time to start our school will be soon also.
W4W training and rehabilitation center. God spoke of this long time ago. It seems unreal but we believe that someday it will happen. At the moment we have the person who is designing the project for our center (for free). Now we will need just a bit of land and a bit of money to build it. 🙂
Disability Awareness seminar. 29th of November, 2014 W4W helps to organize seminar for Christians (and non-Christians) to raise disability awareness in Latvia. It is the first one of the kind in Latvia and we hope to change the worldview for at least some people.
Summer camps. We already look forward for summer and have started to organize camps. We will have at least Challenge 8 camp, but it is possibility that we run again two camps.
The World best place for Networking. In February there is Global Access conference where disabilities and possibilities meet. It is presented by Joni and Friends and as they say: ”will bring together disability leaders, ministers, educators and practitioners from around the world. It’s an unprecedented opportunity to share experiences, forge strong working relationships, and learn how to practically and effectively promote disability ministry in the Christian community.” We as family are longing to be part of it, but we need miracle of finances to travel to California.
INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN MERCY PROJECT
Rezekne and its region in February 2015 will mark the end (or long break) for Evelyn being the outreach personal manager. This year she will focus more for training other people to take her role and will be more in background to help. She has been in this outreach leadership team from year 2007 and feels she needs a break. Outreach application process have started and it is exciting to see what God is going to do during next outreach(es). Will you want to be part of it? More information is here
PERSONAL NEWS
Rasmus. During this summer Rasmus started to speak in English. So, now you are able to communicate with him. He also started to translate from Estonian to Latvian and opposite to help his Estonian grandmother in Latvia. He is going pre-school and dancing and enjoying both of it a lot. Yesterday he made food for the first time for us– sandwiches on the stick
Kaspars. YWAM Riga leader will leave the position and Kaspar will take her place till we find a new leader. It will make him even busier as he already is. He does need prayers to be able to balance his time between different responsibilities.
Evelyn has made first digital (art) photos this autumn. She thinks that maybe she can start photography again after the 10 years of break from her film camera.
House. We did move in to the new living place at July. It was the busiest time between two camps. Now we are mostly settled in, but still some details are not in place, yet. There are also some more things needed to be fixed what we had no idea before. Due to cold weather in Latvia we need to heat the heating system within a year for six month. We have firewood heaters what is working, but in minus degrees (in Celsius) are not able to warm the house enough. Our own central heating (also firewood, but warms all the house) have had lot of problems. We have invested to it a lot of money, but it is still not working properly. It seems we will need to buy new wood-fired boiler (hopefully not before the spring). When we heat with this we get house warm, but then we need to keep doors open to let smoke out :-D. This Sunday friend will visit us who is expert of cleaning the chimneys. We hope to get rid of the smoke at least.
Financially we have done well. We have food, clothes and warmth (with smoke 😉 ). We have been able to pay all our bills (we pay just half the rent at the moment because all the fixing we made), but we have not enough for the repairs, emergencies, vacations. We also pay partly W4W costs, because W4W do not have enough regular support. Sadly but have lost one of our important supporter also. We are now looking for new ones and especially from USA. Are you interested to invest to us or/and for Wings for Wheels? Contact us and we give your more information how to do it.
We have some more news and prayer needs, but this public newsletter is not (yet) place to share it. If you are interested to get to know it, please ask 🙂
It was nice to share with you. Would you like to share your life with us also? Otherwise it is like praying God with long list of news and challenges and never hear back what He want to say for you (I was just teaching how to hear the voice of God in our leadership training program 🙂 ) So, you have many reasons to replay for this newsletter.
Blessings,
Evelyn, Kaspars and Rasmus
