Happy Latvian Independent Day!

After long summer holiday and taking part of the seminar, it took us awhile to get to use to live in the centre of the city again. Now, two month later, we are back in everyday routine. Rasmus is going twice or three times a week to Christian day care and once a week to baby school. During free time he is helping us with Wings for Wheels ministry and checking that our staff meetings would not go too long ;-).

Awareness in BauskaWings for Wheels
For the first time in the history of Wings for Wheels, Kaspar did not need to go to the university during this autumn and now he has more time to work with people with disabilities. Actually what we have understood is that – to pray more together as team and to wait on God and to let the Holy Spirit to lead us even more than before. These past couple months we have been extra looking for Gods heart of this ministry. Sounds simple principle, but sometime it is so easy to do things in your own way and not checking that with God. We also have had disability awareness program in Bauska Baptist church and next week it will be held in Jelgava Pentecostal church. We have visited one of camp participant outside of Riga and planning to go for other side of Latvia to visit two others. We have started to send out devotion e-mail for camp participants once a month. We did have house group gathering and next one will be in the end of next week. Kaspar is continuing with physiotherapy evangelism. Once a week he is also practising in Vaivari Rehabilitation centre, the most biggest and famous rehabilitation centre for people with mobile disabilities in Latvia, to fulfil his internship needs. There he has opportunity to learn and to network with patients with mobile disabilities and with high level of specialists.

Seminar
From 27th of August to 10th of September there was communist Asian country seminar held in Sweden. Evelyn was attending the seminar; Rasmus and Kaspar were part of family support group and enjoyed their time off from home. In security reason we are not able to speak any details about the seminar or the country in newsletter, but I (Evelyn) am ready to share it with you personally, if you are interested (just be aware, that I can get too excited 😉 ). For me these two weeks were holiday and intense study in same time. I was really enjoying the seminar. This was like fulfilling my dream. It was also the first time after Rasmus birth that I was able to take time for myself and not to worry about Rasmus. We did have really great teachers who were not (only) good in theory, but also living in or being closely connected to the country. We listened story after story Two friends met againhow God has opened the doors and how He is changing the country. God was teaching for me a lot – especially that if we let God to lead our lives then He can open the doors for places what seems impossible and use our weaknesses to get His work done. I understood that my task at the moment is to keep praying for the country. I also can be voice of the voiceless and introduce the country for other Christians (especially for people from ex-Soviet countries, who have been grown up with communism ideology). Hopefully in the future God will combine my two callings – people with disabilities and the country. Maybe one day I will even visit this country and with God help will do something to help people with disabilities there.

Even that we had difficulties to pay for the seminar (and this is reason why we are not in Spain at the moment to be part of Strategic Leadership Course), we did feel that we were in right time in right place. 12 years ago I joined OM (Operation Mobilization – mission organization) summer campaign and had three weeks outreach in St. Petersburg. My team leader was first person who did speak about the communist Asian country. It did touch my heart and the calling started to grow. During all these twelve years I had no contact with my team leader, but in Sweden, being in a different country and organization, we met again. God really has perfect time for everything…

Prayer needs:
Please pray for our financial situation. After the seminar we have been able to pay back most of our dept, but we have been struggling financially most of the year. In different Rasmus during seminar reason we have lost some of our main supporters and cost to live in Latvia is increased during the year. We have challenged some people personally to pray and to consider becoming co-workers with us – supporting monthly with 30€ (40$; 25£). If you feel you would like to partner with us (even if we have not (yet) asked you personally), please contact us and we will give more details.

We are also in great need of laptop. Maybe it is sounding strange, that there are people in the world who do not have laptop, but see, here we are… 😉 We do have desktop computer at home, but it is kind of big to carry around ;-). We are need of computer in camps, in disability awareness and in humanitarian aid project. In the past we have been borrowing it, but it is getting more and more challenging. Please pray that we would be able to buy very good laptop, what would serve us for long time.

Thank you so much for your prayers!
Hope to hear from you, too!

Blessings,
Evelyn, Kaspars and Rasmus
