[:en]Hello,
Summer is almost over for this year. We enjoyed this sunny and warm weather a lot. During spring time Rasmus learnt how to walk and to climb up to lower parts of furniture. During summer he has learnt to run and climb higher places. Now he is exercising Tae Kwon Do (or some other martial art where kicking is done by leg). He is also speaking a lot, but most of it is still in his own language (or like Kaspar expresses – in tongues 🙂 ) He has been really productive missionary.
On spring Kaspar has finished his fourth year of physiotherapy and his last year of study will start soon in September. “Challenge 3” – summer camp for people with mobile disabilities – happened again in July. End of July we sent out camp newsletter, but if you did not receive it, please let us know. After camp we enjoyed our family vacation at Hiiumaa, Estonia where Rasmus was able to be outdoors most of the days. He enjoyed playing with his cousins, grandmother and practicing his Estonian. Now we are back in Riga and new work year has just began.
Disability awareness
Last Sunday Wings for Wheels visited Kuldiga third time (small town on west side of Latvia). We have been invited to Rehabilitation centre, Pentecostal Church and to
church “House of God” to make churches aware of disabilities. Wings for Wheels are only Christian ministry working in Latvia among people with disabilities and we are not able to reach everybody. We are showing for churches how they can reach for people with disabilities near-by. We hope to do more awareness trips during this and next year(s). We are also planning to send out survey for Latvian churches and see how many churches have any contact with people with disabilities.
YWAM celebrates 50th anniversary
Youth With A Mission began in 1956 when a 20-year-old American college student named Loren Cunningham spent some time in prayer. Leaning back on his bed he saw what he called a “mental movie.” There was a map of the world and waves were breaking all over it. The waves began to turn into young people, thousands of them, spilling on to every continent and sharing the good news about Jesus. The picture faded. “Was that really you, Lord?” he asked. This idea, radical at the time, that young people could be missionaries, stayed with Loren. Four years later, in 1960, he started an organization with that idea expressed in its name: Youth With A Mission. Today, YWAM has grown into one of the world’s largest Christian mission organizations.
We are celebrating this jubilee, because YWAM is getting 50 years old. We are having celebration conferences all over the world during this year. Loren and Darleen Cunningham are taking part from all of them. YWAM North Europe (Latvia is part of it) will celebrate it in our region biggest YWAM centre – Restenäs, Sweden at 21st – 25th of September. It will be very special time. Almost all the YWAM staff who are working in North Europe will meet to pray, to search God for the region and to network together. We are really excited to be part of this and our family is signed up for event long ago, bought ferry tickets and asked my mother to come with to help baby-sit. Now we are trusting God for finances for this time. YWAM North Europe is giving really great discount for Baltic people, but for all family it is still a big amount of money. Be happy with YWAM for this jubilee year. If you would like to have more information how to intercede or how to give donation for our family, please contact us.
Hoping to hear from you, too!
Blessings,
Evelyn, Kaspars and Rasmus
Puudega inimeste teadvustamine kogudustes
Wings for Wheels külastas Kuldiga nelipühi kogudust, kus Kaspars, Ailita ja Baiba rääkisid puudega inimeste olukorrast, koguduste valearusaamadest tööst puudega inimestega ning andsid praktilisi näpunäiteid, kuidas avada uksi kõigile inimestel.
„Challenge 3“ (Väljakutse 3) – suvelaager liikumispuuetega inimestele
2-8. juuli toimub Talsi Kristlikus koolis juba kolmas „Challenge“ laager.
Noorte Missioon (YWAM) saab 50 aastaseks
1956 aastal nägi 20 aastane ameeriklane Loren Cunningham nägemuse: maailmakaardil uhtusid lained mandrite randu, sööstsid ühe kaugemale ja katsid need täielikult, siis muutusid lained noorteks inimesteks, kes katsid kontingente. 1960 aastal sai see nägemus
aluseks sel ajal täiesti uuel viisil toimivale misjoniorganisatsioonile nimega Noorte Missioon (ingl. Youth With A Mission – YWAM). Tänaseks on NM üks suuremaid misjoniorganisatsioone. (Rohkem on võimalik NM-i algusloost lugeda Loren Cunninghami raamatust: „Kas see oled tõesti sina, Jumal?“) Sel aastal saab NM 50 aastaseks ja me pühitseme juubeliaastat. Terve aasta toimuvad maailma erinevates paikades sünnipäeva tähistamine, kus osalevad ka Loren ja Darleen Cunningham. 21-25 september on sünnipäevapidu Põhja-Euroopa (kuhu alla kuuluvad ka Balti riigid) NM-i suurimas keskuses Restenäsis, Rootsis. See on väga eriline aeg, sest kokku saavad suurem osa selle piirkonna töötajatest, saame kohtuda sarnase kutsumusega inimestega, sõlmida uusi sidemeid, koos palvetada ja kogu piirkonnale Jumala tahet otsida. Meie pere on ürituseks juba registreerunud ning mu ema Rasmuse hoidjaks kaasa palunud. Nüüd me palvetame finantsilise ime eest, sest kuigi konverentsi maks, elamine ja söök on meile tehtud väga odavaks, on kogu perega minnes kulutused üsna suured.
