Sabbath Year

Greetings from Hiiumaa, Estonia,

This newsletter will probably not be a typical one; however, it’s going to contain very important things essential for our future ministry.

We’ve been in full time ministry for already 17 years, and for a full 11 years we have served with Wings for Wheels. Over these years, God has accomplished – I would say – a lot of things, as you may know from our newsletters. Now, after 17 years of active serving, it’s time to take a Sabbath year. We are in Estonia to stay here for 9 months with our little daughter and our son Rasmus. He is in 3rd grade at an Estonian school, and we can have our time to hear from God what to do.

I (Kaspars) really need this Sabbath year, because I have signs of depression and burnout (yes, it was not easy to admit it). I have seen enough missionaries and Christians who burn out in mission field, get depressed and apathetic towards God’s calling. Moreover, I don’t want to add to the statistics showing that an ever increasing number of men under 40 experience severe heart problems due to stress and their pace of life. We, as a family, are very serious about it, because we want to serve God and be in his calling till the end of our life. I have already taken first steps towards improving this situation, but it doesn’t happen at once. We know for sure that we will stay with W4W; there is no doubt about it. For some time we have felt that God wants to take us further and deeper to reach even more people for Christ through W4W. Even now, we are and will be in ministry, only in a kind of „relaxed mood”.

As I write this newsletter, I’m a bit scared and have read it through several times, because I’m not sure what your reaction will be. We, as a family, hope you will understand and support us financially also in the future, because we cannot do our ministry without you. Your financial support is invaluable. Thank you so much for being with us. Just like an engine needs to be overhauled occasionally to work more efficiently, we too need both spiritual and physical „restart”. We cannot take God’s work lightly, and we want to be ready for 100% like an upgraded tool and an unquenchable fire.

God bless you abundantly.
Kaspars, Evelyn, Rasmus, Karola
