Our own home
April 2020 Our plan is to ‘retire’ from full-time mission work in August 2022. Until that we will continue our work as full-time missionaries. Even after the move Kaspars will remain the leader of Wings for Wheels. We see the period we are in right now as a time of transition, and we are preparing ourselves for returning to ‘ordinary’ life. We take courses, try to sharpen our professional skills, keep an eye on real estate advertisements, save up money. A while ago, I talked to my bank about getting a loan. Not surprisingly, they said they are not able to give a loan to a freelance missionary, even though my ‘salary’ (i.e. support) would suffice. They promised to take another look at our application after I have held a job as a social worker for three months (even though I have been doing social work for the past 20 years 😊). Even if we do get a loan, we will need money for the first payment. That is why I have created a separate bank account for fundraising for our future home. The account number can be found at the end of the page. We believe that God can fulfil our dream of having our own home with enough space for the five of us, and we trust that after 20 years of service in His kingdom, He will also provide a time of ‘retirement’ for us. I am going to write more about looking for and raising funds for our home here.
29.07.2022 Three-four banks showed interest to help us with a loan. We still need to wait a couple of month, because I am still in trial period in work place. Please pray that these offers will be valid also later.

10.07.2022 We have agreement of getting our dream house. We will have time to pay during one year around 200,000€. Please pray that we would get loan from bank. It is not so easy as people might think. Here are some new photos of our future home.
2.07.2022 We will move to Hiiumaa, Estonia next month. We still have no place to go. Our “dream house” will come for selling, but we have no idea how we will get the money. Till now we have seen one house, what is not for us and our friends went to see second house. Last one has good price, but need looooot of work. We will go to check out tomorrow. We are still expecting a miracle! We expect that somehow someway we will get all the money. This is the biggest leap in faith we have ever done. Being missionary for 20 years felt much easier. 😀
23.03.20222 We visited Hiiumaa last week and were able to get into this house. It was nice and we liked it, but it is kinds of sure they are not accepting our offer to pay partly. We met also owner for our “dream house”, but this was work related meeting. I think we will not get this house. We have got a bit anxious and asking more info of houses what is actually to small for us. Yesterday I wrote to several brokers. We are expecting a miracle of God! We ourselves can do nothing!
31.01.2022 Our dream house got new owner, but he communicated with us and we have not lost hope that this actually would be our house. One link is here. Some more photos here. We are also playing with idea to buy this house. It is great location wise as it is walking distance from school and kindergarten (long walk, but it would be option if needed). As usually all houses what we are interested in, are having some complications and we have actually not even seen it from inside.
26.07.2021. We went to see again our dream house. House cost have been lowered. We met owner who got to know what is our possibilities and challenges. Rasmus was with us and wanted to move in same day. He was also philosophizing of opportunity to find a job what would pay for him missing amount at one month 🙂 Water, Internet and distance from Kärdla is still minus and this house has some more obligations what would need to be solved before buying it. Otherwise still our dream house (not that there are lot of options). Ad might not be active for long, but here it is. Some more photos here.
9.01.2021 We have been looking ads for really expensive and beautiful houses. No link to add here, as these were bought out really quickly. Our dream house is still Rannametsa from last notes.
20.07.2020 At the moment our dream house is here. We went to see it in our last visit to Hiiumaa. It is a bit far from Kärdla (same time it gives privacy), needs lot of fixing and has not town water (what means we will need to continue to carry water home as we have done all our marriage time).
04.06.2020 At the end of May we visited Hiiumaa again. During this time we got phone call from the owner of the house mentioned before. Unfortunately we do not have money to buy the house out and it will go to the market officially. It is sad, but same time if this is our house, nobody will buy it and if it is not, then why to cry. Our home thermometer has been warming a bit. Thank you everyone who have give little seeds. Lets see what will grow out of it.
21.04.2020 January 2020 night before we were traveling back to Latvia, we were invited to check out one house what will come to market in spring. House seemed to be ideal as it has enough space for our big family. Mostly houses what is coming to market at island are small and have not good room planning. In March we did went to check this house one more time. This time we saw it in daylight and lot of junk was removed. We saw that house needs more fixing as we thought in first time. Also owner did not approve our offer to pay the fee partly. We did get special price as owner knows my mother – 87 000€ (it will come to market price of 100 000€) and we have time till some point at May to raise money. After that it will go officially to market. It is not easy to sell house at Hiiumaa as full island is in lock down and people are not allowed to visit it. But same time we are also not 100% sure is it really our future home. Ad is here.
